Live demos of the Optomec/VIWA hybrid CNC system. Optomec partners, Industrias Viwa, S.A. a CNC machine tool builder from Mexico, and Centroid, a maker of CNC controllers, integrated LENS 3D printing technology into a 4 axis vertical mill. This event is a milestone and represents the first time a machine tool builder from Mexico has participated at IMTS. (Booth N-73)
Video and sample parts restored by the Rochester Institute of Technology using a LENS Hybrid VMC. (Booth N-73)
Live demos of the Optomec LENS Print Engine in Fryers new LaserFab 3D hybrid machine. Fryers LaserFab series feature a high power fiber laser and a high performance VMC for high speed machining. Standard features include a 1.5-second 24 tool ATC (Automatic Tool Changer), a 15,000 RPM inline spindle (30,000 RPM option), a high torque 30 HP motor and a super-fast 1,900 IPM rapid feed rate. Combined with roller type linear ways and heavy duty FEA designed castings, the LaserFab can print and finish machine parts to a 4-micron tolerance. (Booth S8719)
