IMTS - Mitsubishi Electric Automation to Exhibit CNC Controls and Enterprise Connectivity Solutions at IMTS in Chicago

“The M8 Series features a CNC-dedicated CPU, which substantially increases the processing speed of the controller for high-speed, high precision machining,” said Scott Strache, CNC product manager, Mitsubishi Electric Automation, Inc. “This results in reduced cycle times, netting more quality parts in a work shift.”

VERNON HILLS, Ill. - Mitsubishi Electric Automation, Inc. will exhibit its new M8 Series CNC controls and e-F@ctory enterprise connectivity solution for the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) at the Industrial Automation North America show. The trade show is co-located within the International Manufacturing Technology Show (IMTS) at McCormick Place in Chicago, September 12-17. Visit Booth #E-4102 and see why Mitsubishi Electrics M8 Series controls are running the smartest machines in the world.

The M8 Series control platform is designed to address the need for a fast, precise and affordable computerized numerical control (CNC) system for complex machining applications. The M800 is a high-grade CNC designed for high-speed, high-accuracy machining and multi-axis, multi-part system control and features the industrys fastest CNC, while the M80 provides high productivity and easy operability. Both offer a 19" capacitive touch screens with icon-based navigation for easy, intuitive, smartphone-like operation.

"The M8 Series features a CNC-dedicated CPU, which substantially increases the processing speed of the controller for high-speed, high precision machining," said Scott Strache, CNC product manager, Mitsubishi Electric Automation, Inc. "This results in reduced cycle times, netting more quality parts in a work shift."

The new MDS-E/EJ/EM Servo and Spindle Drives that accompany the new controller have their own dedicated processors. The servo system provides ultra-smooth rotation and excellent acceleration/deceleration capabilities that are optimized for precision machine tool applications. The Drive system also has built-in safety features, reducing the amount of wiring that is required. Motor encoder resolutions have increased to 1, 4, or 67 million pulses per revolution options.

Mitsubishi Electric Automation will also be demonstrating how e-F@ctory technologies extract hidden benefits from existing resources through integrated automation. e-F@ctory technologies provide edge data processing, data integration & connectivity to IT systems, and visualization & analytics.

"In the age of IIoT, enterprise connectivity is no longer an option for businesses that want to stay competitive in todays marketplace. Key stakeholders need to have the highest level of visibility into their manufacturing operations so they can make informed decisions and adjustments for production, maintenance, energy usage and more," said Sloan Zupan, senior product manager for controls and visualization, Mitsubishi Electric Automation, Inc. "Our e-F@ctory enterprise connectivity and visualization solution provides immediate access to the critical information required to proactively improve efficiency, productivity, and profitability."

e-F@ctory provides connectivity to manufacturing assets by leveraging open Ethernet protocols such as CC-Link IE, and open communication standards such as MTConnect and OPC. This connectivity allows broad access to Mitsubishi Electric controls used in operational technology applications such as MC Works64 visualization, AX Facility, and AX Energy analytics to improve operational efficiencies. e-F@ctory facilitates IT application integration supporting on-premises and cloud connected infrastructures.
