Ati Motors Unveils Sherpa XT Lite: Next-Generation Autonomous Electric Tug for Industrial Material Handling
Revolutionary vehicle delivers industry-leading uptime, helping customers achieve exceptional productivity gains
Ati Motors, a global leader in AI and autonomous robotics, announces the launch of its groundbreaking Sherpa XT Lite, a revolutionary autonomous electric tug designed to enable efficient and automated material movement in factories and warehouses. This purpose-built self-driving vehicle measures 1395 × 640 × 1096 mm, allowing for easy maneuverability in tight spaces while boasting a 1400 kg tugging capacity for efficient movement of heavy trolley payloads. With a 100 mm ground clearance, it can navigate over small obstacles and uneven surfaces, and operate on inclines up to 10% gradient (with deration). The Sherpa XT Lite is set to transform material handling workflows, providing unmatched productivity, efficiency, and safety in manufacturing, warehousing, and logistics operations.
The Sherpa XT Lite prioritizes safety and precision, equipped with 3D Lidar and Camera sensors for accurate navigation and obstacle avoidance. Its pull force monitoring capability ensures optimal performance and safety while moving loads. The IPX4 rating protects against rain and water splashes, making it suitable for various industrial environments. Powered by a swappable 48V NMC Lithium-Ion battery, it enables multiple shifts with low downtime, offering an 8-hour run time and a maximum speed of 1.5 m/s. The robot can tug up to 3 carts, improving efficiency by moving multiple loads simultaneously.
Designed for seamless integration, the Sherpa XT Lite features auto un-hitch functionality to streamline the process of connecting and disconnecting trolleys. It also offers custom hitch and trolley design, adapting to various trolley types without workflow changes. It is Industry 4.0 ready, capable of integrating with Factory MIS and WMS for enhanced data-driven operations. The robot operates effectively in temperatures from +5° to +45°C and in various lighting conditions, including twilight and dark mode operations, ensuring consistent productivity across diverse indoor and outdoor settings. Its natural navigation capability requires no infrastructure changes, reducing implementation costs.
The Sherpa XT Lite adheres to key industry standards, including ISO 3691-4 for industrial truck safety and VDA 50-50 for fleet management compatibility, ensuring regulatory compliance and seamless integration with various fleet management systems, including Ati Motors' own Fleet Manager

Using AI to Collect & Leverage Data
Data is the foundation of Industry 4.0. While skilled workers will always be essential, data is reshaping the manufacturing landscape, enabling automation of repetitive tasks, empowering smarter decision-making with AI assistance, and reducing defects and downtime. This shift allows small and medium-sized manufacturers (SMMs) to compete more effectively on quality, speed, and cost. While AI and machine learning systems typically require around two years to collect enough data to reach their full potential, manufacturers can start seeing benefits almost immediately with basic analysis tools and dashboards. Our MEP National NetworkTM expert explains how in this Manufacturing Tomorrow article.
