Well be showcasing a smaller 4 mm nut sensor, an aramid fiber high temperature and flame resistant cordset, and the recently released TBIP CIP Safety Hybrid Block I/O Module.
Talking FABTECH 2017 with Turck

Your company will be exhibiting at FABTECH. What is it that makes this an important event for your company?
Many of our customers in the manufacturing sector have critical fabricating processes, such as metal forming and welding. Turck offers a wide range of solutions for everyday challenges in sensing and process control. FABTECH provides us with a great opportunity to meet current and potential customers, and talk about their real-life application challenges.
What can a visitor to your booth expect to see this year?
Turck will have two booths this year to highlight solutions for both welding and stamping. The welding booth, B20090, will feature several application-specific demos that display sensing and process control around resistance weld equipment. This booth will also host two seminars each day; one will highlight nut sensing in a resistance welding application, while the other will focus on IP67 safety control products along with connectivity solutions for common control devices.
With all the time and money spent on dies, protecting them with affordable and easy-to-apply Turck sensors is a smart investment. Our stamping booth, A5012, will focus on sensors for feed, slug, stripper-plate and part-out detection applications. We’ll also be highlighting connectivity solutions for the harshest environments and proven fieldbus technology offerings that are second to none. By combining these solutions, users can solve issues such as double hits and time-consuming crashes.
Any new products you will be introducing?
Absolutely. We’ll be showcasing a smaller 4 mm nut sensor, an aramid fiber high temperature and flame resistant cordset, and the recently released TBIP CIP Safety Hybrid Block I/O Module.
The 4 mm nut sensor has a new design that is optimized for tight locations, and detects nuts or collars from M5 to M20, or up to 24 mm diameter. The sensors are also programmable via teach functions. The aramid fiber high temperature and flame resistant cordsets are M12 cordsets protected by an aramid overbraid, comparable to Kevlar®, which safeguards the inner jacket and conductors from short circuits due to weld slag buildup. It’s more cost effective and durable than the prevailing silicone solutions on the market.
The new Turck TBIP CIP Safety Hybrid Block I/O Module uniquely combines both safety and general purpose I/O, including IO-Link, in a single Ethernet/IP block remote I/O device.
When you get a chance to walk the exhibit hall floor yourself, what is it you will be most interested to see?
We’ll be looking for interesting new products or processes that could impact the industry in a big way.
FABTECH has many educational sessions & demos. Is your company involved in any of them this year?
Yes. Our welding booth, B20090, will host two seminars every day of the show. One demo focuses on nut sensing in a resistance welding application, and will include integration and design tips. The other demo highlights IP67 safety control products along with connectivity solutions for common control devices. Integration for safety and process PLCs is another important part of this demo.
