User-Specific PackML Implementation Training Offered in Chicago, May 23

The Organization for Machine Automation and Control (OMAC) is offering a PackML Workshop in conjunction with Machine Technology Day, May 23 in Chicago. This half-day training focuses on distinct PackML implementation tasks for packaging end-users, integrators, and OEMs.

The Organization for Machine Automation and Control (OMAC) is introducing two new user-specific sessions at its annual PackML Workshop on May 23 in Chicago. This years Workshop, entitled PackML - Practical Approaches to Implementation, includes a separate session for OEMs and a separate session for packaging end users and integrators. Distinct lesson plans will allow more intense training and individual attention on key tasks and strategies in typical user applications.

PackML (Packaging Machine Language) is designed to bring operational consistency to all machines that make up a packaging line. The goal of the Workshop is to provide attendees with practical information and implementation solutions and a better understanding of how PackML can increase productivity, integration efficiency, and automation performance.
The Workshop takes place as part of Machine Technology Day (http://www.theautomationconference.com/program/workshop/12/session-description) at the Chicago Marriott OHare and is produced by PMMI Media Group. The Workshop agenda and speakers include:
Bryan Griffen, OMAC Chairman, will present a brief overview of PackML in packaging and non-packaging related automation.
Geoff Gooding, Senior Packaging Process Specialist at Nestlé and Todd Ebert, Food & Beverage Industry Manager at RoviSys Automation and Integration Solutions will lead a hands-on session focused on end user and integrator tasks in implementing PackML. They will demonstrate how information is exchanged in machine/unit integration across a system, PackTag structure, benefits, and approaches for implementing PackML.
Chris Thomas, Director of Controls Technology at Axon and Tom Dorward, Product Manager at Mettler-Toledo will lead a hands-on session focused on specific OEM tasks and the Make2Pack approach in implementing PackML. Experts will demonstrate a full implementation of PackML within a machine/unit down to the component level and the benefits of reusable modules.
John Kowal Director, Business Development at B&R Industrial Automation Corp., will discuss how professionals can present PackML within their organization.
The complete Machine Technology Day program includes additional presentations on machine and worker safety and the risk assessment process. Machine Technology Day takes place one day before the Automation Conference & Expo (May 24-25), this year featuring collaborative robots, cybersecurity strategies, leveraging the Industrial Internet of Things, integration of MES and ERP, operator-designed high-performance HMI, Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) and more. The Automation Conference & Expo is also being held at the Chicago Marriott O'Hare.
