Rethink Robotics Branches into Latin America with New Distribution Partners in Mexico
BOSTON, Oct. 15, 2015 -- Rethink Robotics today announced formal channel distribution agreements with Nexon Automation and InterLatin in Mexico, signaling expansion into a new market for the company.
Both the Sawyer and Baxter robots will be sold to manufacturers in Mexico, helping companies improve production processes by implementing flexible and affordable automation. After announcing the availability and global deployment of Sawyer, its new high-performance collaborative robot, last month, Rethink Robotics plans to continue developing distribution partnerships with highly qualified organizations across the globe as the company expands internationally.
"Our customers have specifically asked about collaborative robots, and we are eager to begin offering Baxter and Sawyer," said Raul Romero of Nexon Automation, which has 75 full-time employees and offices in Monterrey, Saltillo and Queretaro. "We are seeing the difference that Rethink's robots are making for manufacturers in the U.S., and we know that companies in Mexico will be thrilled to realize the same results."
A leader in integration, engineering and machine building, Nexon Automation specializes in automated manufacturing systems. The company has a strong presence in North and Central Mexico, focusing on assembly and material handling solutions, plant information, traceability and tracking systems, service and training.
"The demand for efficient, cost-effective automation solutions in Mexico is rising," said Ricardo Alejos from InterLatin. "Collaborative robots like Baxter and Sawyer will help Mexican manufacturers by driving flexibility, efficiency and product quality."
InterLatin has deep roots in the high-growth electronics sector, and the company has seen significant growth since it was founded 16 years ago. Currently, InterLatin has six divisions, more than 350 employees (with more than 30 percent being highly specialized engineers), and a physical presence in the major manufacturing cities in the country: Tijuana, Juarez, Reynosa, Monterrey, Queretaro, DF, Puebla, and Guadalajara. Rethink's products will primarily be sold through the company's Test and Automation divisions, which have extensive experience in Manufacturing Automation and Testing applications. In mid-September, Rethink Robotics introduced its smart, collaborative robots at InterLatin's User Group Meeting in Guadalajara with more than 100 customers in attendance.
"Nexon Automation and InterLatin are key partners in pushing our smart, collaborative robots to the Mexican market, which has one of the largest manufacturing sectors in Latin America and is continuing to see significant growth," said Scott Eckert, president and CEO of Rethink Robotics. "We are already experiencing substantial interest from Mexican manufacturers as well as from our global customers with facilities in Mexico. Baxter and Sawyer create a variety of new opportunities for these manufacturers to improve their businesses through automation and human-robot collaboration."
