T.J. Davies Company, Inc Accepted to WeGROW Program Sponsored by WBENC
This program is the next step in WBENC’s Executive Education journey, aimed at empowering certified Women’s Business Enterprises (WBEs) to grow their businesses through focused, outcome-oriented strategies.
Mantua, OH - T.J. Davies Company, Inc is excited to announce their acceptance into the prestigious WeGROW Program. Company owner and CEO Sherry Davies will join the inaugural Summer 2024 Virtual Cohort organized by the Women's Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC). The council's overall mission is to fuel global economic growth by identifying, certifying, and facilitating the development of women-owned businesses. This program is the next step in WBENC's Executive Education journey, aimed at empowering certified Women's Business Enterprises (WBEs) to grow their businesses through focused, outcome-oriented strategies.
A dedicated and progressive leader, Davies believes that education is the key to advancement. She personally sets that example while also encouraging others. "We offer both time and funding support for our staff at T.J. Davies to pursue educational opportunities and advance their skills," Davies recently shared, "from short courses to certification classes." The WeGROW Program that Davies will attend in July and August of this year dives deeper into key areas of business to that support and promote growth, including leadership and communications, business strategy, HR and operations, and marketing and sales. Through hands-on and interactive virtual sessions, participants will gain tools and strategies needed to propel their businesses to the next level. This includes establishing a confident leadership mindset, developing best practices for profitable growth, attracting and retaining top talent, and building sustainable processes that support speed and scale. Each session will provide actionable insights and practical tools that participants can immediately apply to their businesses. "I'm honored to be accepted and looking forward to continuing this programming with WENBC," Davies said.
To be considered for the WeGROW Program, candidates must have already completed WBE certification. To become certified, business owners undergo thorough vetting, including review of business documentation and a site visit. The process confirms that a business is at least 51 percent owned, controlled, operated, and managed by a woman or women. In addition, one or more women must have unrestricted control of the business, show management of day-to-day operations, and have a proportionate investment of capital or expertise. In addition to certification, businesses must demonstrate leadership maturity and be committed to continued building of organizational processes to be considered for the WeGROW program.
Owner and CEO Sherry Davies continues to blaze a trail of success as a woman business owner in a male-dominated industry. She was recently selected to the WeIGNITE Program and participated in the winter 2024 cohort, organized by the Women's Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC) and sponsored by Wells Fargo. She was also awarded a UPS Ignite Grant in partnership with UPS and the Northwestern Kellogg School of Management, an unrelated honor. Since taking the helm as CEO in 2018, Davies has moved the company into a new building, expanded staffing and product lines, and continued to build upon a legacy of quality and service begun by her father, company founder Thomas J. Davies.
