Edson to Demonstrate a Variety of Applications for its KDF Infeed Management System at Pack Expo 2023
The KDF Infeed Management System adds much needed automation to boost capacity and adaptability in the infeed area of a variety of packaging machines
HAMILTON, Ontario, August 17, 2023 - Edson, a ProMach brand, is exhibiting the versatility of its KDF Infeed Management System, a robotic cell that automates the infeed area of packaging machines, by running multiple products through it in booth C-3833 at PACK EXPO 2023, September 11-13, at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
After stacks/strapped loads are loaded onto an infeed conveyor, the infeed management system prepares them by removing and chipping any bands, removing dunnage and other cardboard as well as paper traveler materials used during transportation. The system utilizes a barcode scanner for stack verification. Then stacks are justified, squared, and presented to either a case packer or a variety of other packaging machines.
The KDF Infeed Management System was developed last year in response to customers looking to integrate automation into more aspects of packaging. Automating the infeed process frees an operator to other areas of production where their skills can be put to better use, especially amid worldwide staffing shortages.
This system is highly customizable to prepare a wide range of products for packaging machines; although the system was originally designed to prepare stacks of cases for a case packer, the possibilities are virtually endless. Empty trays of cans and bottles, for example, can be prepared for primary filling machines by this revolutionary system.
This automated system is more accurate, efficient, safe, and repeatable than manual processes. Removing unwanted dunnage, bands, papers, other materials, and orienting cases can be difficult, cause ergonomic strain, and be potentially hazardous when done manually. This level of automation takes human error out of the equation and creates a safer work environment.
Edson is a solution-based company. This means we approach automation by first determining what our customers' greatest challenges are. In the context of the KDF IMS, the Edson team works tirelessly to curate infeed automation solutions to each application.
