Introducing New Speed Mode for Zortrax 3D Printers

The speed mode is especially recommended for mass production in businesses, where lead times are crucial, as it ensures greater design flexibility, enhanced manufacturing capabilities, and shortened production times.

Zortrax is launching a free speed mode feature, allowing for up to three times faster printing on Zortrax desktop 3D printers! It comes with the new firmware version for Zortrax M300 Dual and M Series Plus 3D printers. It does not require any hardware modifications on the part of the users. The installation process is easy and comes down to following a few simple steps. The speed mode is especially recommended for mass production in businesses, where lead times are crucial, as it ensures greater design flexibility, enhanced manufacturing capabilities, and shortened production times.

In response to our users' expectations, we're speeding up 3D printing with Zortrax machines by introducing a new and completely free firmware, including the new speed mode feature. We know that printing speed is an important aspect of additive manufacturing technologies, especially for those businesses that rely heavily on rapid prototyping. Now, companies which are particularly concerned with reducing their lead times, will benefit from the speed mode so that orders can be delivered to their target customers faster. Individual users will also be able to finish their projects on Zortrax 3D printers at unprecedented pace.

"The strength of our new speed mode lies primarily in the fact that it is a completely free solution, which does not need any additional hardware modifications. It is especially beneficial for all those businesses and individual users that care about short lead times most and 3D print numerous parts, either on their own, or through Zortrax 3D printing services. The installation process is simple and convenient so that all our desktop 3D printers' users can upgrade their machines easily." says Michał Siemaszko, Head of Research and Development Department at Zortrax.

How to start using the speed mode? To download the new feature, the users need to go to Zortrax support center website for the installation file and save it on a USB drive. Then, they should insert the drive into the slot in their Zortrax 3D printer and follow the instructions that appear on the display. Once the firmware is installed, the speed mode parameters are available in the ‘Print speed adjustments' section (Settings -> Working options -> Print speed Adjustments). There are three key parameters there: Print speed, Acceleration, and Hotend temperature offset. Acceleration determines how fast the extruder accelerates after changing the direction of printing. Printing in a high-speed mode might require increasing the hotend temperature, so it can be adjusted as well.

With the new speed mode, the users gain more design flexibility in both simple as well as complex designs, because the print speed can be adjusted at any time during the printing process. This means that one can, for instance, 3D print some parts of the models with a standard speed to maintain high precision, while other components can be finished much faster. Faster printing also means increasing production capacity and consequently, competitiveness on the market, due to shorter order delivery times.

"We're glad to present the speed mode to our whole 3D printing community. The new feature introduced for Zortrax M200 Plus, M300 Plus and M300 Dual translates into tangible benefits for multiple branches of industry. Being able to print up to 3 times faster, businesses gain great design flexibility, manufacturers can produce significantly more units during the same time, and mass production is enhanced. We truly recommend this solution in every manufacturing process, where lead time is of key importance." - summarizes Mariusz Babula, CEO at Zortrax.

About Zortrax

Zortrax is an established manufacturer of 3D printers for both desktop and industrial sectors. The products offered by the company operate in four technologies: LPD, LPD Plus, UV LCD and SVS. The brand has built a strong position on the market by offering comprehensive solutions for 3D printing, including: printing materials and peripherals as well as dedicated Z-SUITE software and Zortrax inCloud platform for remote management of the printing process and personnel. Zortrax machines are used by thousands of customers around the world in industries ranging from architecture, medicine, education, design, automotive, engineering, industry to aerospace. This has enabled the company to build a business on an international scale. The company achieves this goal by providing devices that are reliable and precise, adapted to work in harsh environments, meeting the most stringent standards, and at the same time, are intuitive and easy to use. The company manages to create such quality 3D printers by cooperating with three key sectors: education, medicine and space. Zortrax engineers developed the technology to print composite models from two PEEK blends in collaboration with the European Space Agency. Zortrax specialists in cooperation with ESA, have also developed 4D printing technology, where 3D models can change their geometry under the influence of external stimuli. Within the project, the first successful demonstrators with electrically activated movement were printed on Zortrax M300 Dual. Zortrax solutions are used by such giants as: NASA, Toyota and Bosch.

T.J. Davies' Retention Knobs

Our retention knobs are manufactured above international standards or to machine builder specifications. Retention knobs are manufactured utilizing AMS-6274/AISI-8620 alloy steel drawn in the United States. Threads are single-pointed on our lathes while manufacturing all other retention knob features to ensure high concentricity. Our process ensures that our threads are balanced (lead in/lead out at 180 degrees.) Each retention knob is carburized (hardened) to 58-62HRC, and case depth is .020-.030. Core hardness 40HRC. Each retention knob is coated utilizing a hot black oxide coating to military specifications. Our retention knobs are 100% covered in black oxide to prevent rust. All retention knob surfaces (not just mating surfaces) have a precision finish of 32 RMA micro or better: ISO grade 6N. Each retention knob is magnetic particle tested and tested at 2.5 times the pulling force of the drawbar. Certifications are maintained for each step in the manufacturing process for traceability.
