3D Printing Leader Nexa3D Launches Service to Deliver NexaShield PPE to Frontline Healthcare and Other Mission Critical Workers

Nexa3D has hit pause on its everyday printing services in favor of producing face shields and test swabs on its ultrafast printers — the fastest industrial 3D printers on the market.

VENTURA, CA, April 22, 2020 — Nexa3D, the maker of ultrafast stereolithography production 3D printers, announced today the launch of a service to deliver NexaShield PPE, a groundbreaking initiative in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic that harnesses the power of 3D printing to produce protective gear for healthcare and other essential workers on the frontline as the nation is gearing for an eventual phased reopening of markets and workplaces.

Established as a direct response to the urgent requests for PPE pouring in from healthcare facilities as well as other essential front line workers from police departments to supermarkets to mission critical production line workers, Nexa3D has hit pause on its everyday printing services in favor of producing face shields and test swabs on its ultrafast printers — the fastest industrial 3D printers on the market.

Over the past several weeks, Nexa3D installed additional capacity that is capable of producing some 10,000 face shields per week in its new customer experience facility in Ventura, CA. The company is also in the process of several IRB processes to supply nasal test swabs to healthcare facilities and testing labs with the capacity to manufacture up to 500,000 test swabs per week — an initiative that is designed to address the desperate need for increased testing capacity required as a central part of reopening the economy.

"We believe that the additive manufacturing industry is uniquely positioned to deliver practical, urgent and scalable solutions during this unprecedented crisis that address the severely broken supply-chain," said Nexa3D CEO Avi Reichental. "We are extremely proud of the innovative, hard-working members of our team that are applying themselves to deliver much needed parts and services during this unprecedented period."

As the coronavirus pandemic has unfolded, Nexa3D has been in close contact with various municipalities, universities and health systems nationally offering the resources and capabilities of Nexa3D to establish solutions and help flatten the curve.

Nexa3D's announcement comes after being called upon to produce face shields and other PPE in support of local shortages. The company already successfully manufactured and delivered face shields to frontline healthcare workers at the Cottage Health system in Santa Barbara County as well as the Santa Barbara Bucket Brigade, a disaster-recovery nonprofit organization that has distributed shields and masks to first responders and front-line workers.

Nexa3D's face masks come in two variations: XShield, and the more durable XShield Pro. Both are made of lightweight, flexible materials; are easy to both put on and take off, and provide full coverage facial protection from aerosol and splatter.

"At Nexa3D, we have deep partnerships that we can leverage, and we have a commitment to caring for our community. I'm delighted to know that at this critical moment in history, we are able to provide this mission critical service," said Reichental.
