CoreTechnologie Develops Solutions for 3D Analysis of Complex Plastic Parts

The Innovation Center of CoreTechnologie presents the latest version of its CAD viewer for analyzing 3D models, developed specifically for the plastics industry.

Southfield, Michigan - April 19,2017 - The Innovation Center of CoreTechnologie presents the latest version of its CAD viewer for analyzing 3D models, developed specifically for the plastics industry.

The German-French software manufacturer CoreTechnologie (CT) has provided significant enhancements to its 3D analysis and viewer software "3D_Analyzer". The vastly improved tool provides comprehensive analysis functions for 3D models and was perfected in close cooperation with leading companies in the plastics industry. 3D_Analyzer is designed to analyze wall thicknesses, undercuts, draft analysis and bounding box. In addition, it calculates projected areas of components and assembly groups of complex plastic parts.

In comparison with conventional CAD systems, this application is very cost-effective and users without any CAD know-how can easily work with this extensive tool. Calculations of mass properties take place quickly and precisely. During the process, the wall thickness check also detects areas with heavy variations in thickness. Due to the fully automatic calculation of the projected area, the clamp force, and thus the machine design, can be determined with just a few mouse clicks with ease.

3D_Analyzer generates color gradients to indicate wall thicknesses and demolding angles. Additionally, the viewer has dynamic cutting and measuring functions. The unique innovation of this software is the analysis report in PDF or HTML format.

Analysis functions are supplemented by geometric model comparison, to indicate differences between models from two different CAD formats or revisions of the same CAD. Uniquely the module creates captures of the variances with the ability to write to a 3D PDF. Additionally, for Digital Mock Up (DMU) examinations, there is a function to determine collisions in assemblies as well as to calculate clearances between single parts or components and all surrounding parts. Furthermore, the viewer enables the creation of exploded views that can be animated for BOM.

The viewer can read CAD formats such as CATIA V4/V5/V6, NX, CREO, Solidworks, Inventor, STEP, JT and many others as fully featured, boundary representation or presentation. From within the viewer, models can be saved in a CT neutral, JT, or 3D PDF file. Floating licenses with a borrowing function enable simple, flexible use of the software.

T.J. Davies' Retention Knobs

Our retention knobs are manufactured above international standards or to machine builder specifications. Retention knobs are manufactured utilizing AMS-6274/AISI-8620 alloy steel drawn in the United States. Threads are single-pointed on our lathes while manufacturing all other retention knob features to ensure high concentricity. Our process ensures that our threads are balanced (lead in/lead out at 180 degrees.) Each retention knob is carburized (hardened) to 58-62HRC, and case depth is .020-.030. Core hardness 40HRC. Each retention knob is coated utilizing a hot black oxide coating to military specifications. Our retention knobs are 100% covered in black oxide to prevent rust. All retention knob surfaces (not just mating surfaces) have a precision finish of 32 RMA micro or better: ISO grade 6N. Each retention knob is magnetic particle tested and tested at 2.5 times the pulling force of the drawbar. Certifications are maintained for each step in the manufacturing process for traceability.
