Manufacturers Continue to Look to Courts on Clean Power Plan

Impacts of Clean Power Plan Could Devastate Growth

Washington, D.C., January 21, 2016 - National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) Senior Vice President and General Counsel Linda Kelly issued the following statement after the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit denied industry motion to stay the Clean Power Plan while courts debate legality:

"Manufacturers, as consumers of one-third of our nations energy, need reliable access to continue to provide jobs, create economic opportunity and compete in todays increasingly global economy. Although the courts decision leaves manufacturers with continued uncertainty, unanswered legal questions and unknown costs, we will continue to highlight the vast impacts of this regulation. This is only a preliminary decision not judging the merits of our case and the ultimate fate of the regulation. The court clearly recognizes the importance of a quick ruling and expedited briefings and arguments in this case. Our arguments are strong, the legality of the regulation is questionable, and we will continue to fight for pro-growth, pro-manufacturing regulations.

"Manufacturers are leading the way in the effort to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, but we must have reasonable, balanced policies that protect competitiveness. Manufacturers message to the administration has not changed: work with us, not against us, to ensure future growth and progress."

T.J. Davies' Retention Knobs

Our retention knobs are manufactured above international standards or to machine builder specifications. Retention knobs are manufactured utilizing AMS-6274/AISI-8620 alloy steel drawn in the United States. Threads are single-pointed on our lathes while manufacturing all other retention knob features to ensure high concentricity. Our process ensures that our threads are balanced (lead in/lead out at 180 degrees.) Each retention knob is carburized (hardened) to 58-62HRC, and case depth is .020-.030. Core hardness 40HRC. Each retention knob is coated utilizing a hot black oxide coating to military specifications. Our retention knobs are 100% covered in black oxide to prevent rust. All retention knob surfaces (not just mating surfaces) have a precision finish of 32 RMA micro or better: ISO grade 6N. Each retention knob is magnetic particle tested and tested at 2.5 times the pulling force of the drawbar. Certifications are maintained for each step in the manufacturing process for traceability.
