Liquid for Fused Deposition Modeling Technique (#LFDM)—A Revolution in Application Chemicals to 3D Printing

Sygnis SA, a NewConnect-listed deeptech company conducting R&D projects in the field of hardware technologies, announces that as of July 3, 2023, it has entered into an agreement with Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, under which it has been granted a license (subject to exclusivity for the Company) to use an invention, i.e. a method of modifying filament.

The LFDM technique enables the direct introduction of chemicals, dyes, radioactive substances, pesticides, antibiotics, nanoparticles, trace elements, fertilizers, phosphors, monomers for polymerization, proteins, peptides, and active ingredients in the direct printing process from a polymer material with a typical FDM printer. With the proposed technology, it is now possible to introduce chemical substances into polymer filaments that were previously impossible to apply due to undergoing physical or chemical transformations during previous processing processes. LFDM technique eliminates the need for costly and energy-consuming processing equipment. This method can be utilized in any laboratory by users without access to specialized devices.

- It is a unique and simple concept of how to directly combine chemistry with 3D printing. The method was developed in our team 3 years ago. After preparing the patent application, we have published our solution and encourage you to use the LFDM method and its further creative development - says Prof. Robert E. Przekop from Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań.

The license, which is the subject of the concluded agreement, covers the manufacture, marketing (sale) and distribution of products produced as a result of the use of the invention described above. This license has been granted until June 27, 2033, in the territory of Poland, in exchange for royalties, the amount of which will depend on the revenue from the sale of products made using this invention.
Obtaining the license will enable the Company to increase revenue derived from sales of 3D printing accessories/peripherals over the term of the license, i.e. 10 years. The Company will strengthen its presence in the processing and chemical markets. Successful cooperation with Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań in the commercialization of the invention will enable further development of the Company's cooperation with scientific institutions.

You can learn more about LFDM technology by reading the scientific publication devoted to it in a special issue of Applied Sciences called "Multidimensional Additive Manufacturing". Link to the publication: https://www.mdpi.com/2076-3417/13/13/7393
